PPE workwear to keep workers safe

A simple definition of Personal Protective Clothing is any item of clothing, used by people to reduce their exposure to hazards in the workplace.Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is crucially important in the workplace to keep the workers safe and to let them work properly. Unfortunately some companies have ignored its significance. PPEs can save millions of lives and reduce hazards including accidents, falls, burns, diseases, cuts and injuries. Risks are always present no matter where the employee works. But in some environment there are greater perils that may be threat to the safety of workers. For these reasons, the proper protective gears and equipments must be in place as control measures when exposure to the risks cannot be diminished in some other means.

Protective clothing and equipment is available for almost every part of the body and the type of equipment used will depend on the protection that is required. Some common areas which require protection and examples of how that area may be protected include: body protection using cotton drill workwear, coveralls, waterproof jackets and pants, heat proof aprons and hi visibility garments; foot protection using steel capped safety boots, waterproof boots and non slip shoes; and hand protection using cotton, leather, PVC or nitrile gloves.In buying safety protective coveralls, make sure to know the actual fabric and weigh of fabric because wearing feeling in skin is not the same. Instruct them on how to use choose the correct safety coverall when different work weather condition. For example, teach them how to .distinguish cotton fabric and polyester fabric.

Safety must never be compromised in any situation. Don’t ignore the importance of PPE and do not permit exemptions from wearing these devices.However, they are not the main control to eliminate risks. In every work environment such as construction and mining, engineering control must be present to ensure the protection of the people. PPEs act as a conjunction with these control measures in order to help in eliminating the dangers.
